SCOPE OF APPLICATION | APPLICATION

RoHS-compliant changeover to lead-free products

MODIFICATION

  • Due to the final expiry of RoHS exemption 6c on 30 June 2027, ESCHA will gradually convert affected products and item variants to lead-free materials. The aim of this measure is to ensure the long-term availability of products in permanent compliance with Directive 2011/65/EU.
  • As part of this adjustment, ESCHA will successively convert affected products to lead-free materials or components.
Depending on the product group, this conversion may involve material changes, the use of modified alloys, or modified components. From the user‘s perspective, however, product design, function, and field of use remain unchanged; the changes primarily affect the internal material composition and regulatory implementation.

BENEFITS

  • Long-term regulatory safeguarding of affected products.

  • Greater future security regarding material availability and procurement.

  • Support for sustainable, low-hazard product concepts.

  • Clear portfolio alignment toward permanently lead-free product solutions.

CONFIRMATION OF WARRANTED CHARACTERISTICS

  • The guaranteed electrical, mechanical, and functional properties remain unchanged or at least equivalent.
  • The intended use, fit, and compatibility of the affected products remain unchanged.
  • Unless otherwise specified for the product, the changeover does not result in any changes to dimensions, interfaces, or ordering information.

DATE OF MODIFICATION

  • Implementation is already taking place step by step across the affected product groups.
  • Mixed deliveries may occur temporarily while existing inventories are being depleted and article numbers generally remain unchanged.
  • Until 30.06.2026: Final receipt of raw materials covered by exemption 6c and containing leaded copper alloys above the limit value.
  • From 01.01.2027: Delivery of all new customer orders fully lead-free – without using exemption 6c.
